SERVICES WE PROVIDE

All of our services cater to the strengths, capabilities, needs, and preferences of our clients. Each service is tailored by our Employment Specialists to help our clients integrate into their job.

Job Coaching

  • One-on-One Job Coaching

  • We work with our clients, their supervisors, and any other supports they have to achieve a satisfying work environment.

  • We help our clients find tools to overcome barriers, from an assistive technology like a smart watch to a simple note card in your front pocket.

Job Development

This is the most challenging part of the employment process for most job applicants. What do you want to do? Where can you work? How many hours? We work directly with you to find the right fit.

  • We collect required government documents, like a social security card, so they’re ready when your employer needs them.

  • We review and edit your work resume.

  • We conduct interview preparation.

  • We establish a baseline for your job search to fine tune what roles you do and do not want.

Work Assessments

Assessments are a tool we use to measure a job seeker’s ability to perform basic job functions. This is a judgement-free assessment in which we look at each client’s:

  • Stocking, cleaning, and organizing abilities

  • Customer service abilities

  • Productivity measurements

  • Accommodation requirements

Job Preparation

We help our clients organize their personal information and their story. We coach you through what is needed and how to communicate before you submit your application, including:

  • Organizing personal documents

  • Conducting mock interviews

  • Building your resume

  • Developing your story

Career Exploration

Many of our clients come to us without a clear picture of what they are interested in. In many cases, our clients have never had a steady paycheck. This service helps our clients explore a new career field. During career exploration, our clients:

  • Work with a coach to identify a career path goal.

  • Learn about what those career paths do and how to get started.

  • Make a plan to prepare to work in that field.

Targeted Vocational Assessment

Perhaps you know what you want to do - you have a career field in mind and maybe even some experience in that field. During a targeted vocational assessment, you’ll work with our staff to assess your ability to succeed in a specific field. Options for these opportunities are less common and require the VRC and each client to clearly identify specific attributes they’re looking for. We work toward assessing your barriers and then help you advocate for yourself to get hired. We remove the barriers together.

Community-Based Work Assessment

This is the typical starting point for most of our clients, including those who are entering the Vocational Rehabilitation System with limited working experience and those who have a long-time gap in employment. We use the Community-Based Work Assessment (CBWA) as a baseline tool to sculpt a realistic plan that will help our clients succeed in finding and maintaining a job.

  • We start here for many of our clients.

  • We assess each client’s abilities, barriers, and work style.

Discovery

Discovery is the starting line for clients with significant barriers who will need help with a customized employment plan. Clients who pursue this path are referred to Pacific Opportunities through a Service Coordinator or Personal Agent. This path is comprised of four phases:

Phase 1: We get to know our client.

  • Our coach visits our client’s home.

  • Our coach interviews the people who support our client.

  • We learn what drives our client.

Phase 2: Employment-Centered Planning

  • Our coach reviews all relevant work history, such as community programs or volunteer work.

Phase 3: Employment Experiences

  • We identify hands-on experiences that cater to each client’s interests, capabilities, and goals.

  • We provide one-on-One Coaching

  • We focus on developing the baseline from which a customized employment plan can be pursed as our clients progress thorough the VR path to long-term employment.

Phase 4: Career Themes, Task, and Prospecting List

  • After our clients have completed their experiences, we develop career themes that will be tailored around their individual strengths, desires, and abilities. We provide a comprehensive report that attempts to provide a customized path to employment in the community.

Discovery helps people find out where they shine. We’re excited to be a part of that journey!
